Karen Eastwood’s interactive storytelling is a fun, engaging way for tots right through to high school youth. All are actively involved in problem solving and collaboration, while developing capacity for empathy and strong identity development. Story Spot programs are designed to compliment class topics, themes and values as well curriculum objectives.
WHAT DOES STORYTELLING DO?
Storytelling provides a framework in which children and youth can explore characters’ lives and situations. Story Spot programs are designed so that the students are actively involved in problem solving within the story itself. In short, it is learning that is engaging.
IN SYNC WITH EDUCATIONAL AIMS
Story Spot programs support many school and preschool social and educational aims and objectives.Developing conflict resolution skills, collaborate and be co-contributors, empathy and social development, social skills including sharing and listening, Develop language and literacy skills.
STORYTELLING FOR PRE-SCHOOL & PRIMARY
The children are given a variety of opportunities to listen quietly, actively participate in the telling of the stories and also contribute ideas in our segment, “Let’s Bake a Story!”Story Spot sessions involve music, rhythm and rhyme, word play and story building. By listening to stories and by helping create them, children learn how to understand narrative and develop vocabulary. In each Story Spot session, the children experience stories as a physical and emotional journey. The children become actively involved in the stories and as a result are very present and engaged. Early literacy has never been so much fun!
STORYTELLING FOR SENIOR SCHOOL
Much of our adolescence is consumed with who we are and how we ‘fit in’. So the stories we tell ourselves about who we are directly informs our self-confidence and how we behave towards others. Karen has a special program designed to inspire senior school students to create a story that resonates with them. The program also points a spotlight on how we might tell stories about others and what impact that might have.

“Karen from Story Spot is an engaging and interactive storyteller, who captivated our children’s attention for the entire time she was here. Karen encouraged our children to consider ways to tell a story without a book, and to understand a story’s format. This inspired the children to create their own stories in the weeks afterwards. I highly recommend Story Spot to inspire both children and educators.”
