JON PRYER
PUBLIC ART PRACTITIONER & INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

Turn a handle and watch it move. This is public art with a difference. True engagement with robust sculptural forms that can be climbed on, sat in and – yes – can be made to move by the community it resides amongst. As an experienced industrial designer, Jon can also design and create seating, lighting and other design elements, kinetic or static.
SCULPTURE APPROACH & HIGHLIGHTS
Jon is a sculptor who has been exhibiting and receiving commissions since 1985. Jon also has an ongoing fascination with anthropomorphism and the form of our relationship with various animals. In 2017 Jon collaborated with chocolatier Dean Gibson to create a world first 180 kilo moving chocolate sculpture titled Bone Shaker at Sydney’s Smooth Festival of Chocolate. Off The Leash was Jon’s major solo exhibition for the reopening of the Maitland Regional Art Gallery in 2009.
